TED Talks: Watch writers worth knowing

If you haven’t ever stumbled upon the magical world of TED (Technology, Entertainment, and Design), it’s an organization devoted to “Ideas Worth Spreading.” The annual TED conference brings together the world’s most fascinating thinkers & doers, who are challenged to give the talk of their lives in about 18 minutes.  Videos of the talks are then posted online.  Here are some of our favorite TED Talks from passionate writers and editors:

Author and editor Dave Eggers, on his literacy project, 826 Valencia, which has inspired a network of free and fun tutoring centers around the world.

Nigerian novelist Chimamanda Adichie, on finding an authentic cultural voice and the “danger of a single story.”

Leading lexicographer and word nerd Erin McKean, on redefining the dictionary.
